This course will teach the basics of digital photography with an emphasis on its fundamental concepts. The material is designed for amateur photographers who want to better understand these concepts in order to improve their images. These concepts will apply to all types of photography including nature, wildlife, and portraiture. The lessons will be presented in a non-technical manner that will be easy for all students to understand.
In the 5 week course, students will be introduced to the concepts of aperture, shutter speed, ISO, and depth of field. You will also learn about different camera modes such as shutter priority, aperture priority, Manual mode and when it is best to use each of them. Students will then learn about the different properties of light, and how to apply basic composition techniques to improve their images.
The last session of the course will be a hands on workshop conducted during the day on Sunday, so that all techniques and concepts learned can be applied to an environment using natural light.
Basic knowledge of how to use your camera is recommended. Any Digital camera, including “point and shoot” cameras, can be used, however DSLR cameras are recommended.
